In Search of Magic at the Borderland

It is my second visit to Krasnogruda, a dot in space on the outskirts of the small community of Sejny, near the Polish-Lithuanian border. Before the war, this property belonged to the family of Czesław Miłosz, the Nobel prize-winning poet who happily vacationed here as a boy, and returned to visit in 1989. Abandoned for many years, its manor house was brought back to life by the Borderland Foundation and reopened in June 2011, on the 100th anniversary of Miłosz’ birth,
